Punjab P&D under the PRMP Organizes Stakeholders Consultative Workshop on Investment Climate Reforms in Punjab Province.
Punjab Planning & Development Department “Punjab Resource Management Program” (PRMP), organized on Wednesday here a stakeholders consultative session on “Investment Climate Reforms”. The consultative session was attended by senior government officials, members of LCCI, academia, practitioners, civil society and media personnel. The purpose of the consultative session was to highlight the key steps being taken by the Government of Punjab to improve the overall investment climate of the province.
Addressing the session, Iftikhar Ali, Sahoo, Provincial Secretary Planning & Development Department highlighted the importance of private sector and export led investments in order to meet targets set under Punjab Growth Strategy. He further stated that Punjab Government was committed to take major steps to facilitate investors and improving overall investment climate in the Province.
Senior Vice President, LCCI, Almas Hyder also participated in the consultative session and lauded the efforts of Government of Punjab to improve investment climate and for engaging private sector in decision making process.
On the occasion, Dr. Nasir Javaid, Chief Executive Officer, Urban Unit P&D gave presentation on Punjab Spatial Strategy which will assess the potential of Punjab’s growth corridors and growth nodes and coordinate investments accordingly. He said that the strategy would inform large public investments related to connectivity infrastructure, urbanization and the development of industrial estates.
Director Land Record, Board of Revenue, Maqbool Ahmed Dawla gave comprehensive presentation on various initiatives being undertaken by BOR to simplify property registration procedures. The representatives from LDA also gave presentation on the government’s recent initiative to reduce the time for issuance of construction permits.
Deputy Program Director, PRMP, Ali Jalal mentioned that the Government of Punjab in collaboration with World Bank was going to launch Punjab Jobs & Competitiveness Program and one of the key interventions under this program would be improving doing business global ranking of Lahore, Punjab in respect of key business indicators under the provincial control and Government of Punjab will continue to engage key stakeholders for their valuable inputs on various government’s initiatives under this Program in future as well.
