Punjab P&D Inaugurates Its Knowledge Management Centre at P&D Complex.
Punjab Chairman Planning & Development Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan inaugurated the Knowledge Management Centre at P&D Complex, Punjab Civil Secretariat, Lahore. The idea for this knowledge centre was to encourage and facilitate all the employees, and it would not only be restricted to the employees of P&D but in fact it could be used by the University students for their research projects. This will lead to more research oriented work which is more authentic.
Addressing at the inaugural ceremony, Chairman P&D Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan congratulated the P&D team for this great initiative and also thanked the allied departments heads in extending their support to make this happen. He also said that this great library revamped by P&D will enlighten future generations. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Members of the Planning & Development Board, Senior Chiefs and Chiefs of Development Sectors, P&D.
This knowledge center has been revamped with great support from the experts from the Urban Unit and Punjab Information Technology Board. At the inaugural ceremony, Chief Executive Officer Urban Unit, P&D Nasir Javed and DG E-Governance, PITB, Sajid Latif gave a briefing to the P&D Staff about the up gradation of the Knowledge Management Centre by both the departments and also informed about the usage of the E-Library. This step by P&D would to positive results for all the departments of the Government of Punjab and has also helped in analyzing projects.
The Knowledge Management Centre (KMC) is an interactive and user friendly e-resource for the consumption of the development professionals, researchers and academia and public policy practitioners. KMC houses a wide array of latest book collection on multiple disciplines, an assembly of authentic web linked research journals, online and digital library sources, managed electronic drafts of documents, systematic collection of development projects proposals, IT based circulations newest reference and research services through managed shelving, efficient retrieval facility and other knowledge sharing tools and techniques. This helps in better analysis of information and also in the scrutiny of investments. KMC follows Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC/23) under a library classification system.
