Punjab Minister P&D chaired PPP steering committee meeting at P&D Complex Lahore
“I appreciate all committed efforts observed by Public Private Partnership Cell for the development in Punjab. PPP Cell has played a pivotal role in bringing the private sector onboard by initializing various long-term social sector projects in the province.” These views were expressed by Minister for Planning and Development Department Malik Nadeem Kamran in 28th Steering Committee Meeting of Public Private Partnership Cell held at the auditorium of Planning and Development Department.
The Steering Committee was chaired by the Minister P & D Malik Nadeem Kamran. The Steering Committee deliberated over various infrastructure and social sector projects under PPP mode. Member (PPP-P&D Board, Head PPP Cell) Agha Waqar Javed briefed about the PPP regime in the Punjab. Member PPP has presented the agenda to all the members. The committee has approved a 43-KM long Shiekhupura-Gujranwala road linking two industrial cities of Punjab under Build-Operate-Transfer Mode of Public Private Partnership. This has been a first ever project in the history of the province that would also generate revenue for the people of province without spending a single penny from public exchequer.
District Headquarter Hospital Pakpattan was also approved to award the contract to the private party under management contract mode of Public Private Partnership. The basic purpose is to improve the health facilities at minimum management fee of 10% of the total budget of the hospital. Minister P & D ended the meeting with note of providing complete support to the social sector PPP projects.
