World Bank Mission introducing Programme for results in Punjab Province
Punjab Government in-collaboration with World Bank is leading a new Program-for-Results (P4R) to promote the industrial growth in Punjab Province by improving the Business environment and facilitating the development of industrial clusters.
Chairman Planning and Development Muhammad Irfan Elahi expressed his views while presiding over an initial meeting with the World Bank Punjab jobs and competitiveness mission held at P&D Complex Lahore.
Provincial Secretary P&D Waseem Ajmal Chaudahary, Members P&D Board Punjab, Provincial Secretaries of different Departments, Chairman Punjab Industrial estate development and management company, managing director Punjab small Industry corporation, vice Chairman Punjab Board & investment and trade, Chief Executive Officer Urban Unit P&D, Director General Monitoring & Evaluation and other relevant senior officers attended the meeting. Co-team leader Fatima Shah, senior representative led the World Bank Mission. Team leader Fatima Shah of World Bank Mission gave special briefing on the Program for Results, Industrial Growth to the participants.
Muhammad Irfan Elahi Chairman P&D, presiding over the meeting, said that World Bank will provide 100 million dollars funds, for the five years, to implement the Program for Results for promoting and improving in industrial growth. The said funds will be released for this project till April 2016.
Chairman P&D also said that recently established investment climate reform unit in P&D Department would be more strengthened by providing technical assistance from the World Bank. During the meeting, participants belonging to different institutions gave different suggestions before the World Bank Mission & Punjab Government on the implementation plan of that program. World Bank Mission according to the schedule is starting visits, from 10th June to 17th June 2015, the different Departments of Punjab Government and Industrial Estates to prepare and produce a comprehensive report on that program, this report will be tabled before the Punjab Government in its wrap-up meeting.
